Whenever you are by the beach, your skin goes all soft, your hair so beautiful? Your legs turn into the ones of the girls on the WSL? We will reveal a few beauty secrets directly from those girls’ tricks box, for you to take the beach life home.
Surfergirls are natural beauties, and because they prefer to be one with nature and the ocean, they would use natural stuff on their hair, skin and inside anyday. Chemical cosmetics not only make ourselves sick and clocks us up, it also does it to mother nature.
1.Surfergirl skin
Preferably coconut oil, coconut oil, and more coconut oil. Its smell will not only intoxicate men’s hearts or send you in daydreams back to the tropics, it also has a natural sun protection factor (SPF10 approximately), which will protect your skin and make your skin super smooth. In contrary to common perception, that fat will cause blemishes on your skin, coconut oil even serves as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent, making it the perfect cleanser and prevents un- welcome visitors.
If you don’t like the smell, or you have very dry skin, try a mix of coconut oil, sheabutter, cacao butter and vanilla (you can get all of those at good pharmacies, organic stores or online). Or try pure avocado oil.
If your skin is dry or has dead cells, we love peelings. The best for that is sand. If we don’t have that handy, a sugar- lemon scrub works second best.
Lemons are anti- inflammatory, healing, and they get rid of dead skin cells. When lemon gets combined with sugar, it turns into a great natural peeling.
To make your own, best to mix
- Half a cup sugar, juice of half an organic lemon, one tablespoon honey, and one tablespoon olive oil.
- Gently rub mixture into the skin for a few minutes
- Wash off with cold water
- Use 1-2x/ week

After- Sun Lotion:
In the unhappy occurrence of having had too much sun, or your skin is simply tired, cucumber can do wonders. It cools the skin, smoothens irritations, and the extra vitamin C helps the skin regenerate faster.
Cucumber Skin- Smoother:
- Grate cucumber. Put the resulting paste onto the damaged skin.
- Leave 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Apply 2x/daily, until the skin is back to its smooth normal.
- Alternatively or as an extra super boost: Add 2 tablespoons Aloe Vera.
2. Surfergirl Hair
And again. Preferably coconut or avocado oil! J The surfergirl hair likes the coconut oil the best, as a conditioner for the ends, it makes the hair so amazingly soft and gives you that wind and wave wild look. Furthermore, if you miss the sunbleached ends, try adding some lemon with cooled camomille tea and go into the sun. Once it has dried, rinse.
Pssst… Us surfergirls preferably don’t wash our hair every day. Firstly, because it is much better for the environement by saving water. Second, it is much better for your hair, as it wont dry out as much, and leave the natural oils intact. But really… because we just are too lazy and like our wild look much better…

3. Surfergirl Body
As a beached fish, the bikini or shorts have to hold up at home in the living room, as that at least gives us a bit of beach feeling. And nothing feels better than naked legs anyways. But, we obviously want to show our legs from their sugar side. To make sure that’s happening, eat some grapefruits, and drink green tea. They help against cellulite. And, of course, some exercise.
For the exercise, we love to turn on some beach tunes, heat up our home, and do some sun salutations on our organic bamboo yoga mat.. and imagining at the same time that the lamp is a palmtree and the carpet is the beach…
Cellulite…: Best to eat lots of Grapefruits and especially its white stuff, that sits inbetween the peel and the flesh. That has most of the anti- cellulite warriors. Rolling on a Trigger Roller really helps too!
Added to that, it is awesome to go into the bathtub from time to time. As a surfergirl we love to be in saltwater every day, as it feels so so good on skin and hair and soul. Closest to the ocean might be the bathtub with some added Epsom salt or death sea salt.
The magnesium and other minerals in it soak up into the body, and helps its metabolism.
Connective tissue boost:
Furthermore, the daily cold shower helps boost your metabolism, and to stimulate brown fat cells. Those brown fat cells, are “good” fat cells, that help us tone up, boost our immune system, and have an anti- ageing effect. For them to wake up and do their job properly, we have to stand under a cold shower for at least 30 seconds and get cold water running over chest and upper back. Just imagine you are under a waterfall, and it wont be as bad. J
Added to those external factors, our skin, hair and body loves to be pleasured from the inside. Meaning next to a generally as green diet as possible, added with good fats, we need silica, vitamin A, D3, K2 and probiotics.
General Rules for a Surfergirl Body:
Last but not least, is the surfergirl’s approach on life in general. She loves living, and only wants the best for her body and soul. After all, they have to function well to have as much fun as possible, not just to look good. She thus gives her body the best nutrients, enough Vitamin D through sunlight, enough sleep, and most importantly, enough fun (reduces stress hormones, which make you age and look tired).
